Freddy the Plant

IMG_0205.jpeg

“Plants seem important in the connections among my husband's family. His stepdad plants a tree each time one of his grandkids is born: For our daughter Stella, he has a tiny lemon tree named "Citra-Stella" growing in his living room, and he did the same for his 10- and 7-year old grandchildren. My husband's grandfather Freddy grew a special plant, and now that he has passed away, many members of the family have clippings from it that they've grown into their own giant plants (us too!). I have no clue what kind of plant it is because we all just call it "Freddy"! The Citra-Stella is at our house now! It moves inside during the winter and will go back out for the summer." - Megan Briggs Magnant
